PypeServer Lyte 2.4 Launches With Smarter Nesting, Labeling, and Fire Protection Features

Lyte connects your linear positioners, saws, snappers, groovers, and manual cutting tools of all kinds to your BIM and CAD software to save on labor and materials.

With the release of version 2.4, Lyte adds powerful new nesting and labeling features that greatly increase material savings, including features specifically for fire protection fabrication. Lyte 2.4 also features even more flexible label printing, controls more machines, integrates with more design software, and includes numerous new features to save operator time.

Nest for Success

Lyte already had the industry’s most efficient part nesting algorithm but we still found a way to save an extra 2-4% in material from every stick you cut. This improvement means that at today’s prices, Lyte 2.4 will save you about $40 per stick of 4” copper and about $10 per stick of 2” copper compared to other machine control software.

We’ve also incorporated suggestions from customers who fabricate fire protection systems using pre-grooved pipe. With traditional cut list nesting, the remnant material comes from one end of the stick or the other, meaning that one of the pre-cut grooves is cut off. To prevent this, Lyte 2.4 offers the ability to nest from both ends of the stick at the same time and have the remnant come out of the middle, saving all the labor time associated with re-grooving the pipe.

As proud as we are of Lyte 2.4’s advanced nesting features, we know that they aren’t always what our customers need. For this reason, Lyte 2.4 has the ability to take in pre-nested cut lists. It can also use more traditional big-to-small and small-to-big nesting algorithms if desired for a given cut list.

More Customer-Suggested Features

Lyte’s labeling capabilities were already second to none but there’s always room for improvement. In response to customer feedback, we’ve added the ability to rotate label elements so you can more easily read the labels on parts that are stored on end. You can even put information on a label both right-side-up and upside-down so text will be legible no matter how the part gets set down.

Also, it’ll come as no surprise that sometimes sh*t happens. Printers jam, label rolls run out, the dog eats them, whatever. For this reason, Lyte 2.4 now has the ability to print or re-print labels from your cut history.

Finally, some of our customers are dealing with bulky, heavy, or otherwise cumbersome stock and asked if we could make it easier to load stock on their automated pushers. As a result, Lyte 2.4 now has the ability to retract the pusher as far as the machine allows when loading stock to give the operator more room. It’s a little thing but all the little things add up to great software.

More Machines to Control

Every new version of Lyte expands the range of machines it can control and Lyte 2.4 is no exception. Lyte 2.4 now controls:

  • TigerStop positioners and saws
